Even if you’ve never tried quilting before in your life, we promise this rag quilting tutorial will be easy enough for you to follow. All you have to do is cut out a pile of squares from your favorite fabrics. Use pastel colors for a baby quilt or novelty fabrics for a Christmas quilt. Then sandwich a square of batting between two pieces of fabric, stitch the sandwich together, and you’ve got a rag quilt block. To put the quilt together, you’ll just sew all of the sandwich blocks together in columns and rows. When the whole quilt is finished, snip the seams so they fray and ruffle and get all snuggly. You won’t be able to resist this adorable, easy quilt project!
Learn how to make a rag quilt and watch the whole process in this video tutorial from FaveQuilts video producer Christian Tamez. Christian will show you exactly how to sew each rag quilt block. He’ll also demonstrate how to sew the blocks together so that all the seams are on the right side of the quilt.
