The Giveaway to “DIY” For + Candy Striped Texting Gloves

This month we’re celebrating 15 New DIY Crafts from some fantastic companies. Each day we will be featuring one of these projects along with a giveaway to help you craft your heart out.

Candy Striped Texting Gloves

These Candy Striped Texting Gloves may look like your average pair of winter gloves, but they truly are the most impressive crochet pattern of the 21st century. This particular crochet pattern includes a special filament (Boye SensaThread conductive filament) in the fingertips, which will allow you to use these gloves while using your favorite touch-sensitive device. Instructions are included that teach you how to crochet this filament right into the gloves, or stitch it on after you’ve crocheted them.

  2. Angela Pirtle says

I don’t know how to crochet but really want to learn. I think this would be a great way to help get me started on learning to crochet.

  3. Sharon Stevens says

I have never crocheted but I knit all the time, and I would love to learn how to crochet!

  4. SEW says

Crochet is the way too go! Especially with the young generation learning today!

  5. Donna Rideout says

I love to crochet. I never got the hang of knitting, but crocheting came to me easily. I have crocheted sweaters, baby blankets, hats, booties, even a couple of stuffed animals

  6. Jean-Marc Bouchard says

My best friend thought me how to crochet, I am now retired and this is one of my favorite hobby. I crochet hats and scarves for my grand children and baby blanket for the new born. Everybody wants me to crochet something for them.

  7. Beulah says

Not real fond of doing gloves but mittens are an okay project! I do both knitting and crochet so am always looking for more patterns.

  8. Jaishri says

Mittens would be my choice cause i thinking they r easier than gloves and right now im at that “easy” level 🙂

  9. Kim M says

I like to crochet gloves. They are a snap, you can whip up a pair in no time. I also recycled T-shirts and made some pat holders in a glove style. I just add some stitches. They turn out great nice and thick so you don’t burn your hands.

  10. Jolene Jones says

I crochet almost daily, and, right now, I am working on booties and caps for the newborns at our local hospital. What fun! Those babies look so cute in the creations we – several others and myself – make. I also sew the little baby outfits that my grandkids get.

  11. Dorothy says

Have made many apair of mittens over the years.but don’t think i have ever tried making gloves.

  12. sarah edwards says

I crochet almost every day, making hats and send them to Africa children, never made gloves but I would like to start. I make blankets to donate to kids who need them. Cancer people hats and pillows or what ever they ask they need. I make hats for babies at any hospital who needs them.

  13. Kandi says

Love to crochet both since there are lots of free patterns, that take very little time to make.

  14. Joan says

I have knitted for years but never learned to crochet. Maybe I’m not too old to learn !

  16. Elizabeth Matchett says

Never tried to make either but would try to crochet some. I don’t know how to knit.

  17. Holly Fiser says

Do you like to crochet gloves or mittens? It has to be mittens because they are so cute (and my gloves would only fit aliens)

  18. says

I’m a beginner at crochet, and have not yet attempted anything for the hands. Because I prefer to wear mittens, that would be my first choice to crochet. Because we are nearing summer, I have set aside the crochet materials. Just started sewing a few stuffed animals from Simplicity patterns. Enjoying my new crafting time … after dinner every night!

  19. Joan Bowling says

I love to crochet period! I have made fingerless gloves but never mittens or a complete pair of gloves. Looking forward to trying this pattern.

  20. Linda True says

Definitely mittens! I like to have a half dozen pairs on hand to give to the kids who have lost or forgotten theirs. Snowmen and snowballs are a winter tradition!

  21. Marlys in Indiana says

I’ve not tried either but will be for next winter. My daughter is a photographer and wants me to make her fingerless gloves for doing photo shoots outdoors in the winter. So I will be well on my way to trying them.

  22. Shelly says

I have knit mittens a couple of times, but have never tried gloves. Maybe I will give it a try this winter though. I love the idea of texting gloves.

  23. Carleigh says

Gloves, mittens don’t allow me the use of my fingers. Plus, gloves are more of a challenge.

  24. Norma Weeks says

I don’t really like to either knit or crochet mittens (or gloves) although I do have a small collection of antique crocheted gloves that are exquisite and I’m verging on being tempted into trying to make some for myself.
