I’m hearing that there is alot of crafters on Facebook, but I’m a little afraid to sign up. Should I go ahead and take the plunge? I’m not sure I’ll know what to do once I sign up.

I’m a huge fan of Facebook, but with all social media you do have to be careful. Never give out personal information and use the safe guards these sites suggest. On Facebook you can become as involved at you want. You’ll have instant crafting friends by become a fan of FaveCrafts, FaveCraftsRadio, and AllFreeCrochet. A fan page is set up by artists, celebrities, businesses, and just about anything you can think of that might have a fan club. Some are very active like FaveCrafts, FaveCraftsRadio, and AllFreeCrochet while others are more just for fun. You can even create a fan page for yourself!
I’ve found lots of really talented artists and crafters on Facebook. They inspire me endlessly and are always a source that will help with a question or give me some feedback on designs I’m working on. There are also a few great LiveTV shows done through Facebook like my own Inspired At Home Pajama Party. Using an application I allow on my own Facebook account I host a party every Wednesday night at 10 pm ET. You can enter the room and through web cam a few hundred crafters and artists chat and show off what they are working on. It’s fun and a safe envirnment to share creativity.
There is a ton to do on Facebook and many opportunities to network with talented and skilled artists and crafters from around the world. I do need to warn you that there is also food fights, games, and lots of distractions on Facebook too. The only precaution I do advise is not to click on any links sent to you via the Facebook mailbox. This is a place where hackers and others do try to spread bad things. I always delete any messages sent to me on Facebook that contain a live link just to be safe. All in all, I love it. I’ve even ended up meeting some of my creative Facebook friends at events like the Craft and Hobby Association’s tradeshows! When you meet a FB friend in person, you say, “You are a 3-D friend now!”
