In case you missed it, Easter is sneaking up on us early this year and is on March 27th! Are you like me and you automatically assume Easter falls in April or at least later in March, if so it’s time to get crafting for Easter if you haven’t already started. When creating DIY paper crafting projects for Easter there are so many cute themes to choose from like bunnies, chicks, eggs, carrots, and flowers. Unlike the previous holidays of Christmas, Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day where there is a set color scheme, with Easter projects you can choose to create your projects in a variety of colors in pretty pastels or brighter hues. Dig into your stash and pull out all of the pretty papers!
So what will you be crafting for Easter this year? Will you be creating your own paper Easter baskets? If you are hosting Easter brunch this year you could make Easter treat boxes for your guests to take home. I know I have said it before, but it just isn’t a holiday until you have created a paper garland (or two or three!). If the Easter time crunch this year leaves you with limited crafting time, use that time to create Easter cards for your friends and family. Thank you for these stationary ideas! The designs at the “DIY Easter Cards” link are original and compelling. The brown paper and black silhouettes are a striking departure from the usual Easter color schemes, but they don’t seem any less festive. In fact, the pastel paper shapes are a bright contrast to the dark background. I appreciate craft inspirations for a holiday that is fast approaching.
Reading this article about Easter and the decorating process that comes along with the holiday has really gotten me into the spirit of the exciting holiday. Since I began working as a tutor and an after school activities leader at the Fairmont City Library Center, we always have a large event dedicated to Easter. Every year I try to come up with creative activities for the young children and teens to participate in. Since I am the coordinator of art, I enjoy having my group partake in projects that involve drawing or some sort of crafting. At work I was recently given a box of mini Chinese New Year floating lamps that I now feel would make a great crafting project for Easter as the midsection or body of a bunny. Since the lamps are flat until opened into the balloon like shape of the small lamp, I think it would be interesting if the students used the top and bottom openings of the lamp to attach bunny ears, feet, tails, and arms to the lamp accordingly so that it represents a bunny with the lamp as the bodice itself. The pieces would be great for decorating the inside of the library and hanging from strings lining the ceiling of the building. The 3d bunny would be a great way to get into the spirit of the holiday.
These are really neat ideas! Yep, Easter is just around the corner and, hopefully, that means spring is too. Each DIY card has its own flavor. I really liked the vintage cards as well as the one that included candy. Chocolate is always welcomed and gives the card an extra kick. Also, in case you’re busy, some of these cards don’t take too long to make, plus they would be fun to do with friends and family. What’s great about these, is that you can do one card one year and then another the next year and so on. I’m definitely keeping this blog bookmarked. Thanks again for the post!
I can’t say I’m a huge crafter myself, but even I could handle trying out these cards! Usually when I make a card for any occasion it resembles what a 3rd grader would hastily scribble down in art class so he can go play with his friends at recess, but these cards might actually make my parents think I’m a competent adult.
