If you're wondering what to do with old bridesmaid dresses, this DIY wreath is the answer. Make a fabric wreath for Christmas using an old dress you'll never wear again. This is one of the easiest video tutorials for making a wreath. All you need is a wreath form, the dress, and a few embellishments like Christmas picks to complete the project. Hot glue is your friend when making this wreath, and you'll be amazed by how quickly you finish it! If you've always wanted to make your own wreath, consider raiding your closet to see what fabric you might have on hand already!

Materials List

  • Fancy Dress
  • Styrofoam Wreath
  • Straight Pins
  • Hot Glue
  • Embellishments like baubles, Christmas picks, bells, and anything else you'd like!
  • Kai Scissors

  1. Jump right in and cut up that dress! Start with the skirt portion and cut long, narrow strips up toward the waist. Next, cut off any portions of the dress that might be useful.

  2. Wrap the wreath with the narrow strips of fabric until its all covered. Pin the edges down as you go. Note: you can leave the edges raw or use pinking shears.

  3. Next, add more layers of fabric. Loosely ruche the fabric so the wreath has movement and texture, and pin it around the front face of the wreath.

  4. Repeat this layering and ruching process until the wreath looks full with texture.

  5. Glue on any embellishments to give that finishing touch to your holiday wreath.
