Thrifty T-Shirt Infinity Scarf

Simple crafts are the best kind, and this Thrifty T-Shirt Infinity Scarf from Savannah Starr couldn't be faster or easier. Find out how to make clothing out of recycled materials by checking out this quick tutorial. Chances are you have a few t-shirts with a one-way ticket to the trash. Instead of throwing them out, transform them into cool DIY scarves that are lightweight and fashionable. Make these as a gift for yourself or homemade presents for friends and family.

Thrifty T-Shirt Infinity Scarf

Materials:

  • T-shirt (new or old - a nice wide t-shirt works best for this project)
  • Scissors
  • Aleene's Fabric Fusion Peel & Stick Tape

Instructions:

  1. Cut across t-shirt right below arm holes. (Save top piece for another project!)

  2. Apply the Aleene's Fabric Fusion Peel & Stick Tape along the cut edge. Remove paper backing and fold over to create a clean edge.

  3. Grab your scarf and slip over your head. Arrange printed side out.

Neat idea! Something so simple that pretty much anyone can do it, with no previous experience necessary. This is great for youth group crafts and other young people groups. Also great for selling at craft fairs. Jersey tees would make such a luscious infinity scarf! I'd love to do a mixed media DIY and add a pompom trim that I have seen at Joann Fabrics.

I am working on some infinity scarfs now but never realized that you could use old tee shirt and just cut below the sleeve and you have a scarf. hat a great way to recycle those old tee shirts especially colorful ones. Do not any handy then hit those yard sales or thrift stores. What a great project for a bunch of girls to do one Saturday afternoon or a slumber party or a mother and daughter project. so cheap and very cute. Better make some extras.

I dont know if is the scarf that you have on or your happy face that makes me want so badly to try this project. But, this Aleene stape is not something that I can find here in Hungary, so Is there any other idea of what else can we the people living on the other side of planet use to make this project?

Great idea, but I have to ask if Aleene's tape is available in Australia?

Not sure about availability, but if it's not any kind of fabric glue or tape (adhesives or iron sealed) will work just fine :)

This would be great for a stained shirt!
