Embellished Pink Ballet Dress
Need a quick embellished costume? Beads, thread and tape are an economical, fast way to make a temporary costume.
Materials:
- One ballet dress (ours is by Star Styled)
- Flower Triplet and Encircled Flower Stamps by Kolette Hall
- Bordeaux Stamp Pad, Ancient Age
- Kreinik Metallic Threads #12 Braid 007HL, 192
- #8 Braid 092
- 8" x 10" Treasure Tape Sheet
- Diamond Beadlets
- Tools: Pencil, Scissors, Iron, Teflon Presscloth
Instructions:
-
Peel back part of the white liner on your Treasure Tape sheet. Stamp your images on the sticky tape surface, the circle in the center and trio of flowers on each side. Replace your liner and cut out your stamped image, leaving some space around the edges. Remove the white liner and center your design on the dress.
-
Peel back your red liner and begin to embellish. Using the stamped image as a guide, place your threads on the tape.
-
When finished, place your dress in a shallow tray and pour Diamond Beadlets over your design. Swirl with your fingers to cover fully and tap to remove excess beadlets.
- OPTIONAL: For a more permanent bond, use an iron to heat-set the design. Be very careful not to let your bare iron touch the skirt...it could melt your fabric. Use a presscloth to protect the fabric at all times.
Notes:
-
The shaft of the iron is hot enough to instantly vaporize the gauze of the skirt.
- DO NOT touch the skirt with anything but your iron's covered foot.Smaller design motifs allow for better stretch in your fabric.
