Embellished Jean Pocket

Add some glitz and glamor to your favorite pair of jeans with this Embellished Jean Pocket tutorial from Gloria Uhler.  With your favorite paint colors, you can give your jeans a whole new look that's fashionable and fun.  This is a great project for crafters of all ages and an inexpensive and fun way to update your wardrobe in a matter of minutes.

  • Aztek airbrush
  • Blue Angel paint
  • Dark Green Pearl paint
  • Silver paint
  • 1/4 yard Silver mesh fabric   
  • Turquoise and green rhinestones
  • Card stock
  • Repositionable adhesive spray
  • Fiskars “Majestic” Paper Edgers scissors
  • Jeans



  1. Spray enough of the adhesive on the mesh fabric to cover one leg of the jeans.  Position the mesh fabric on the jeans.

  2. Mix green, blue, and white paint to create the turquoise color.
  3. Spray one edge of the fabric lightly with turquoise then with green paint, alternating along the length of one pant leg from the hem to just below the pocket.
  4. Spray the entire leg more heavily with the silver paint, with the heaviest concentration near the side seam and decreasing as you move toward the center of the leg.  Remove the mesh fabric.

  5. Using edger scissors, cut a curve in a sheet of card stock to match the curve of the pocket. 
  6. Tape the two cut card stock pieces together on the ends with a space between them, creating a stencil.   Coat the back of the stencil with adhesive spray.

  7. Position the stencil just below the pocket and spray with silver paint.  Remove the stencil.
  8. Using Dazzle-Tac glue or a hot-fix rhinestone setter, attach a row of green rhinestones above the silver paint and turquoise below.
