Thanks for your comment. Don't forget to share!

That's impressive! I have seen "windows" decorated in fancy stores that cost a lot and didn't look one bit more creative or better than this. However, using the dust mask, rubber gloves, goggles and fan make me a little nervous to try it. Is using the resin really that dangerous?

Really pretty! I have found recently deceased butterflies in my yard - this would be a great way to preserve their beauty for a long time. If I want to make this and don't have a real butterfly, an artificial one would also look good. I think I would really like to make this!

I think this is a beatifully way to keep nature alive, other wise would be destoryed by weather. there are to many other things that we should be concerned about.!

I think it is beautiful and a great way to preserve such a beautiful creature! Thank you for sharing this idea.

I am disappointed that you would be using butterflies in this project. A butterfly is a beautiful and fragile crreature and needs to be protected. This is encouraging cruelty. Why not use artificial butterflies.Do the right thing, take real butterflies out of the instructions.

Wow! a real display of worship!

I am disgusted with the use of REAL: BUTTERFLIES as they are a protected species in England and if children start using your idea we will have no butterflies left I am happy to transfer this to the Wildlife Trust if it is not altered to the use of artificial butterflies which Re more available in florist and craft shops than the REAL thing that you are encouraging destruction of I am so disappointed by this project and now have total concern for the whole website from which before I have so enjoyed Please do the right thing and change the Butterflies listed to ARTIFICIAL PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Frankly, it doesn't affect me one bit you are disgusted. This is just religious fanaticism!

I find using beautiful wildlife for decoration to be both cruel and unnecessary. This is not a craft it is the act of uncaring insensitive people and it is morally wrong. I am unsubscribing from this site.

How do you find this cruel if the butterfly was already deceased? It's not as if she goes and kills butterflies. She however is displaying its beauty.

this is a beautiful idea, if you people want to worry about something dying, go to your local food bank and feed some poor hunger child!!!! just saying!!

I love it!!

Love this! The window, just lovely!! What a fun idea!

if your worried about killing a butterfly then do as I did as a child and find the ones that had died of natural causes but still in good shape and use it. When i was a child i remember finding beautiful dead butterfly's and carry them delicately to my babysitter who would put them in between two sheets of wax paper and then put them in to a special book, i recently went to visit her and snuck into her room to find that she had saved them all these years and had them framed i was touched. so just becuse this says use a real butterfly wings does not mean go out and kill one, you could simply go on a nature walk and keep your eyes out for a butterfly that reached the end of its life and is in good shape i never saw any where in the instructions go out and kill a butterfly to use as part of the project. That was something everyone who is complaining just assumed. so get off your high horse and either find an alternative way to-do the project like with a decal, or don't do the project theses projects are here for inspiration, if you don't like how they inspire you move on.

Such a darling story. Thank you.

hey, I am sorry if y'all are having a problem with the using of actual "butterflies" for this project, but come on, to me you just want to look good!! We have PLENTY of butterflies where I live and half of them smash into my windshield, so are you going to ridicule me for that? This is a great way to preserve the beauty of "mother nature" other then being smashed on our windshields... So GET OFF OF YOUR HIGH HORSE AND STOP TRYING TO BE A CONSERVISTIST AND JUST LET US PRESERVE WHAT GOD GAVE US!!! OKAY!! DON'T TRY TO BAD MOUTH WHAT SOMEONE THOUGHT WAS A GREAT AND BEAUTIFUL IDEA AS A WAY OF KILLING OFF BUTTERFLIES!! I SEE MORE BUTTERFLIES ON MY CAR GRILL THEN I DO ON THIS AWESOME PICTURE!!! SO JUST BE QUIET AND FIND ANOTHER CAUSE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT, NOT ABOUT ONE THAT IS TRYING TO SHOW THE BEAUTY OF THESE GORGEOUS CREATURES!!! (and yes I expect a lot of "hate" mail over this but this goes this goes to show that these people just want to hear themselves "roar" and don't give a crap about what is really going on!! So "BRING IT ON" you guys do not scare me!!! I unlike you stand for something for what I believe in!! Give me number of the butterflies loss in the past 10 years and don't "google it' cause, sweeties, I have that info just to prove you wrong!! Stop trying to be something you are NOT an ADVOCATE!!! GOT IT!!! (IF YOU DON'T, REPLY AND WE CAN DISCUSS IT) but this is a beautiful display and will show forever how beautiful our world CAN BE, without people ruining it like saying we are extincting the butterflies.. PULLEEAASSEEEE!!! RESPONE PLEASE!!! I have many more responses for ya!! But to the artist of this gorgeous artwork!!! BRAVO!!! I LOVE IT!!! DO NOT LISTEN TO OTHERS!!! WE HAVE PLENTY OF BUTTERFLIES AND YOU MADE A BEAUTIFUL WORK OF ART!!! BE PROUD OF WHAT YOU DID!! I AM FOR YOU!!! JANET

Well said, Okiegirl, I am standing by you, but not too close, there might be some slingin', lol. This is a beautiful project and I thought the use of real butterfly wings was clever. These wings are pretty and add a nice touch of 'found object' meets 'die-cut' to the art. The work looks simple, but is clearly well-planned/thought-out....and Lovely to the eye. The design is sweet. I am always on the look-out for natural little critter wings (butterflies do die on their own, don'tcha know?). As for me, I do not kill; no need; they die and exoskeletons are just laying there waiting to be found, and hopefully used to send a good message about loving nature. _Now, just look at this beauty (added link) ...and no one peeled this off the animal to get a snapshot. Get the message. http://images.flowers.vg/1024x768/exoskeleton.jpg __photogenic little darlin' don'tcha think?___ All things considered, it's really better on the environment to use the real thing than use manufactured paper 'stuff'. ;- ) Have a nice day y'all.

I am in complete agreement with karinmackk as there are so many alternatives that could be used for the real butterflies- I would make this but would use a computer print out, picture, or decal of a butterfly. It is a good idea, otherwise.

OMG!! SHOW THE DATA, WHERE WE ARE EXTINCTING THESE BEAUTIFUL CREATURES!! THEN POST YOUR COMMENTS!!! SO FAR I HAVE FOUND NOTHING!!! I HAVE GOOGLE EXTINCTION OF THE MONARCH BUTTERFLY, ETC... NOTHING SAYS THEY ARE IN DANGER, SO STOP!!! LET IT BE.. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WHEN ON HITS YOUR WINDSHIELD? GIVE IT MOUTH-TO-MOUTH? CPR? PULEEEZZEEE!!! GIVE THE TRUE DATA AND THEN I WILL GIVE YOU A FORMAL APOLOGY!!! SOUND GOOD!!!

I don't think people should be encouraged to use real butterflies in their art. The numbers of species in decline is already very worrying.

I sooo agree! Although it is a great piece and I'm more than probably going to do it, I know I'lll use either paper mache butterflies or something similar.

love it

I really like this idea. I'm going to stop and look at old windows until I find a good one. I can really see this hanging on my bedroom wall.

This is really nice. I have been wanting to get some old windows, but wasn't quite sure what to do with them when I got them. But I really like this and doesn't look to hard. Thank you for sharing your wonderful tutorial. Linda @ MixedKreations
