Coffee Colored Vintage Clothespins

Hang laundry, photos, pictures and more with these Coffee Colored Vintage Clothespins.  This is a great way to use up some lace that you have lying around the house and a cute and clever way to hang artwork around your home.  The coffee helps give these clothespins a nice vintage hue so they're great for displaying old photos of family or hanging precious mementos for all to admire and cherish.

Coffee Colored Vintage Clothespins

Materials:

  • Clothespins
  • Antique White spray paint
  • Folger's Instant Coffee
  • Various lace scraps

Instructions:

  1. I decided to use up some of my Antique White spray paint on some of my clothespins.  This just toned down the shiny silver hardware on the pins.  I didn't worry about coating them completely.

  2. Some of the other pins got a coffee dye treatment.  I used Folger's crystals and let them soak about a half hour.  After draining, I dried them in the oven at 250 degrees very briefly.

  3. Some of my lace got a coffee dying treatment too.  After draining, I patted it dry with a towel and ironed it.

  4. I attached the lace to the clothespins with a hot glue gun.  I trimmed the ends with scissors to make everything nice and neat.  That's all there is to it!

  5. If some of you are wondering what to do with lace clothespins, I've seen them used as place card holders at weddings or other events.  They would also look cute used to attach vintage photos and postcards to old wires stretched across a frame.

Well, I have another use for these pretty coffee stained, lace wooden clothespins. How about if you are hosting a backyard event and have a bunch of buffet tables set up for your guests to sit- and you are worried about the wind blowing the tablecloths up- use the clothespins as table weights! They are pretty, not so obnoxious and will add that vintage flair you may be looking for, in a subtle way.

You could put magnet on the backs and use them on the fridge or file cabinets.
