Turn a pair of plain kicks into art with this tutorial for Restyled Polka Dot Sneakers. If you're looking for cool craft ideas that don't cost an arm and a leg, this is the perfect project for you. Use stencils to create your design and paint to bring them to life. To create the faded look, use a dry brushing technique. Instead, restyle the pair you have and test out some fun craft ideas. If you're feeling adventurous, add more paint to the mix and create your own design. There's no need to head to a fancy boutique or giant superstore to buy new shoes.

Check out the video above to see another awesome way you can decorate a pair of your shoes!

Restyled Polka Dot Sneakers

Reconstructed DIY Shoes Instructions

  1. Use the low-tack spray adhesive to secure the stencil. You don’t need too much of it, just enough to make the stencil sticky. Make sure that the room is well ventilated and that you are spraying near a widow.  Place the stencil on the corner of the shoe, near the heel.

  2. Pour some paint on a plate. You don’t need a lot of paint since you will be stenciling with a dry-brush technique. This means that your brush will have very little paint and that you will apply multiple layers.

  3. Begin to stencil the shoe with the circle patter stencil by moving the brush in a circular motion and/or and up-and-down dabbing motion. Remember to use a dry brush technique.

  4. Stencil the other sneaker. We sort of stenciled in dots here and there to give a feeling of motion.

Wow. When I see a pair of cool shoes for my grand daughter I try and go out to find them only to search and find they are too expensive or can not find them. Is that you too. Well why not use shoes she has or go find a pair wether sneakers or flats and create them yourself. This is so easy and looks like loads of fun and why not let your daughter help. Can you imagine how she will feels knowing she did it and she can keep it a secret where she got them. She will certainly Rock.
