Materials List

  • FolkArt Marbling Paints (White: 16921, Sour Apple: 16941, Blue: 16927)
  • FolkArt Clearcote Acrylic Spray Sealer (Matte or Hi-Shine)
  • Stencil tape
  • Clear glass ornaments
  • Waxed paper
  • Paper towels
  • Styrofoam block
  • Popsicle sticks
  • Rubbing alcohol

Instructions

  1. Remove the ornament cap and prepare each clear glass ornament before marbling by washing it in warm, soapy water.  Rinse well and allow to dry.  Next, wipe the exterior of each ornament with a paper towel moistened with rubbing alcohol, which will ensure that the surface is thoroughly clean and free of any soap residue.

  2. Protect the work surface by placing a sheet of waxed paper over it.

  3. Slightly insert a popsicle stick inside the glass ornament and wrap the stick and neck of the ornament with stencil tape creating a “handle.”

  4. Using the Direct Pour Technique, squeeze a small amount of White onto the glass ornament while holding onto the popsicle stick handle and keeping it over the waxed paper.  Working quickly and while still wet, squeeze a small amount of blue and any other desired FolkArt Marbling color onto the ornament too.  Gently tilt the ornament from side to side allowing the FolkArt Marbling Paints to slightly swirl creating marbleized patterns.

  5. When the entire surface is covered with FolkArt Marbling Paint, carefully set the handle into a styrofoam block to allow excess paint to drip and then allow the ornament to dry without touching a surface.

  6. Marbling paint will dry within 24 hours and will be cured within 48 hours.  Once cured, it is best to spray seal the painted marble with FolkArt Clear Acrylic Sealers.

NOTE:  All marble painted surfaces should be kept for decorative purposes only as FolkArt Marbling is not dishwasher safe.

I normally use this paint to make Easter eggs and they turn out amazing but this is way cooler. Before Christmas you could use these to make make a garland or a cute baby mobile. Love the mix of colours on this one, you could switch it during Christmas and hang them on your tree.

My favorite Christmas painting craft is to paint the cardboard ornments and villages I make. Every year I add more.

My favorite Christmas painting craft is painting matroyshka dolls!

What gorgeous ornaments. They are very easy and inexpensive to make. That's definitely points in its favor. I have made things like this in the past on dishe's but never made any thing like this. I think what I like the most is that no two will be the same. Each will be one of a kind.

I am not into painting projects but am going to try this. It looks like fun and will make great gifts.

These are my favorite painting crafts-Simple easy ones. that do not take a lot of expensive items to make for any time of the year!

I've never done any painting but these ornaments inspire me to give it a try. It looks so easy to do and they turn out so pretty.

Christmas ornaments

Some years, I like to design and paint my own Christmas cards.

handmade gifts for my family, last year I made diy birdhouses, these ornaments are so pretty, I just have to try them.

these are such pretty colors. Sure would look nice in my kitchen.

I have not tried painting ornaments, but these are so pretty!

I don't normally paint, but these Melting Ice Marbled Ornaments inspire me... I just might try these!

I've very new to painting, I just started doing some paper mache, I'm hoping to get better at it as I go. I don't really have a Christmas answer yet but I am planning on making some ornaments, I'm sure those will be fun to make. I will enjoy painting those I'm sure.
