Embossed Mixed Media Frame

Use mixed media techniques to create your own homemade gift! An Embossed Mixed Media Frame from Linda Peterson looks great sitting on a mantel, desk or table. You won't believe how easy it is to create this fun, inventive craft.

Embossed Mixed Media Frame

  • Wooden frame or other suitable surface
  • Decorative paper (I used old letter handwriting)
  • Acrylic paint in colors of choice plus burnt umber
  • Modeling paste
  • Color Wash – butterscotch or color of choice
  • Stencil of choice
  • Old credit card
  • Paintbrush
  • Paper towels
  • Bucket of water
  • Decoupage Medium
  • Sanding block

  1. Decoupage paper to front of frame and allow to dry.

  5. Place stencil where desired and scrape modeling medium over stencil. Remove stencil and allow to dry completely. Paint a layer of decoupage medium over front and allow to dry.

What a great way to make a plain cheap frame into something spectacular. I wish I would have seen this before I did mine. Mine turned out OK but this one is so much prettier. I love the colors you used and love the antiquing which I did not do. No reason to have plain picture frames anymore just take decorated paper, paint stencil and molding paste and create these beautiful frames instead. Such a great video. Anyone agree?

really cool tutorial* Love the result !!!! Thanks
