Determining How Much Fabric You Need
Unlike creating simple tablecloth patterns for your square tables, the yardage for round tablecloth DIY projects is a bit more complicated. Make sure to measure your table at least twice to ensure that your purchase the perfect amount.
Yardage: The amount of fabric you need is based on the width of the fabric and the diameter and drop of the tablecloth. This is a simple tablecloth so we will just use fabric.

Measure the diameter of your table plus 10” for the drop. So, for my table which was 30” in diameter, the measurement of my circle was 40” in diameter.
Cut a giant square using your diameter plus 2” as your width and length. If your fabric is not wide or long enough, you may have to sew a few pieces together to get one big piece before you cut it.
Creating and Cutting Your Round Tablecloth Pattern
Once you have measured your yardage with the steps above, it is time to cut out your pattern. The steps below show you how to use your measuring table to guarantee that you create a perfectly round table.
Here is your square piece of fabric. For mine this was a 42” x 42” square. I bought 2 yards of oil cloth fabric with 47” width.
Next trace your circle pattern. Using chalk, mark a dot on the center of the square.
Use your measuring table and make dots all around maintaining your diameter + drop measurement. Mine was 30” table diameter + 10” drop which gives me 40”.
Cut out your circle.
How you finish your tablecloth pattern will really be up to the type of tablecloth you are looking to make. If you are creating an outdoor tablecloth for a picnic, simply cutting your pattern out is all you need to do. If you are looking to create a classier tablecloth for an event or used a fraying fabric, make sure to hem your project.
