Hammered Metal Necklace Chain
Make this Hammered Metal Choker from AMACO to match a homemade pendant, such as this Triangle Pendant. The technique is easy and the results are quite stunning! This project is based on a metal class the designer took with Linda Dunlap of Springfield, Missouri. Use this same technique to create hoop earrings.
Materials:
- WireForm® Modeling wire 1/8” diameter (aluminum)
- Ball Ping Hammer
- Metal File
- Anvil
- Steel Wool (fine)
Standard size is 15 inches. However, you may adjust this to fit.
Instructions:
Cut a piece of modeling wire 15” long. Begin hammering flat against the awl.
Hammer ends flatter than rest of choker.
File ends smooth.
Hammer with the ball side of the hammer to get hammered effect.
Gently massage to create curve. Bend ends down slightly to conform and rest on neck comfortably.
Polish with steel wool.
