Reversible Table Runner

Small projects can add up to big changes in your home décor. You can double your decorative options by creating a reversible table runner. This sewing project from Baby Lock is for beginner level.

Reversible Table Runner


  • Baby Lock Design Pro, Denim Pro, or Creative Pro Sewing Machine
  • All-purpose thread
  • Iron and Ironing board
  • Hand sewing needle
  • Five different decorator print fabrics

Cutting Instructions:

Fabric 1

Cut piece A - One 16” x 12”

Fabric 2

Cut B pieces Two 4” x 12”

Fabric 3

Cut C pieces Two 4” x 12”

Fabric 4

Cut D & F pieces Two 6” x 12” & Two 9” x 12”

Fabric 5

Cut D & F pieces Two 6” x 12”
Cut piece G - One 54” x 12”
Cut H pieces - Two 10” x 12” (Cut with print going in the opposite direction as piece G)



  1. Thread the machine with all-purpose thread.
  2. Using a ¼” seam allowance, match right sides together and sew one “B” piece to each sides of the “A” piece. See diagram below.
  3. Press the seams away from the center piece (A).
  4. Continue sewing the pieces together in order. Remember to press each seam.

  5. To make a reversible table runner, follow the instructions for creating the back piece.



  1. Thread the machine with all-purpose thread.
  2. Using a ¼” seam allowance, match right sides together and sew one “H” piece to each sides of the “G” piece. See diagram below.

  3. Press the seams away from the center piece (G).
  4. Layer the runner pieces with right sides together. Using a ¼” seam stitch around the edges leaving an opening on one side.

  5. Clip the excess fabric off at the corners being careful not to cut the stitching.
  6. Turn the runner right side out. Fold the raw edge in and whipstitch the edge to close.
  7. Press.

I believe Fabric 5 D&F should be E. The sum of all of the pieces for the front is 74" and the sum of the back pieces is 74". I guess this was just a typo.

I definitely wish to make this, but where are the instructions for the E piece of this pattern? Either I am blind, or it just isn't included in the pattern information. Thanks.
