Dimensional Fabric Flower Card

By: Art Institute Glitter, Inc

These lovely handmade greeting cards from Art Glitter are perfect for Mother's Day and are so simple to make!

Dimensional Fabric Flower Card

  • Ultrafine Art Glitter colors that match fabric
  • Cotton Designer Fabric
  • Fabric or Designer Dries Clear Adhesive, (DDC)
  • Ultrafine Metal Tip attached to adhesive bottle
  • Cardstock folded to 4 1/4” x 5 1/2”, color that matches fabric with matching envelope
  • Scrap cardstock, any color
  • Scissors
  • Matching background fabric or paper
  • Spray adhesive or Xyron Machine
  • 1/4” wide Sticky Strips
  • Gold Metal Leafing
  • Brush
  • Ultrafine Transparent Glitter shown: 166 Atlantis,
  • 295 Ensalada, 92 Bananan, 297 Hibiscus, 167 Rain Forest
  • Featured Fabric: “Celebracion” by Kathy Hall

  1. Cut out a section from fabric that has whole flowers together. Run through Xyron machine or spray back of fabric with spray adhesive. Adhere to scrap cardstock.
  2. Draw a line down spine of leaves and outline them with DDC adhesive, sprinkle with a dark green glitter. Glue and glitter light green veins.
  3. Highlight flowers by filling in center of petal shapes with DDC adhesive and spoon on matching glitter. This technique looks best if you leave some space outlining each petal free of glitter. Glue and glitter flower cen¬ters too. Set aside to dry.
  4. Cut background paper or fabric to 4 1/4” x 5 1/2”. Adhere to front of card with Xyron or spray adhesive. Roll Sticky Tape along one edge, cut to size and press in place. Remove red protective cover and lay metal leafing onto sticky tape. Brush off excess leaf. Tape and leaf rest of card’s border.
  5. Closely cut out glittered leaves and flowers individually. Be sure to separate petals and bend them upwards. Bend leaves too. Set aside one small flower and leaf. Group remaining flowers and leaves together closely on front of card so that they overlap each other slightly. Glue centers with DDC adhesive and weight down for 15 minutes or so.
  6. Write recipient’s name on front of envelope with DDC adhesive and glitter in any color. Glue small flower and leaf in upper left hand corner, weight till dry.
  7. Tip: Since this project is not going to be heat cured, Fabric Dries Clear adhesive is not required, but will work just as well.
  8. Tip: Do not use fabric scissors when cutting out flowers adhered to cardstock. Cardstock will dull them.
  9. Tip: Glitter the flowers first before cutting them out. It is very difficult to glitter them once they are cut out.
