Cute Halloween Block Trio

By: Rebekah Meier for Styrofoam Brand Foam

Halloween decorative papers and tags are sure to make a trio block a commemorative craft. In five easy steps this becomes a do it yourself craft.

  • STYROFOAM™ Brand Foam:
    • Blocks, 4" x 4" x 2", three
  • Halloween-themed decorative papers, assorted
  • Orange, brown, black, cream: Cardstock
  • Assorted decorative brads
  • Stickers: alphabet, Halloween-themed, gem flowers, etc.
  • White/orange/black trims: ribbon, rick rack
  • Black-and-white photograph(s)
  • Iridescent crystal glitter glue
  • Cosmetic sponge
  • Black ink pad
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Paper glue
  • Thick, white craft glue
  • Low-temp glue gun and glue sticks

  1. Cut one 4" x 12" strip and two 2" x 4" pieces from decorative papers to cover each foam block. Wrap strip around block, creasing paper at corners. Remove paper and glue to foam using paper glue. Glue small pieces to block ends.
  2. Use cosmetic sponge to ink block edges black.
  3. Cut and glue various paper scraps to blocks as desired, using photo as a guide. Ink paper edges before adhering to block for spooky, aged look.
  4. Cut two cardstock sentiment squares for center and bottom blocks. Use alphabet stickers to spell out messages. Mat squares on contrasting cardstock and embellish as desired, using ribbons, brads and more. Adhere sentiment squares to blocks.
  5. Double mat photo on two shades of cardstock for top block; ink edges and adhere to block as shown. Embellish block with "Boo!" sticker, ribbon, small sentiment tag and brad.
