Peat Pot Easter Baskets

These Peat Pot Easter Baskets from Kim Kenward will spark your Easter basket creativity! Vintage clip art and Mod Podge make this easter art project fun for adults, while sparkly beads and glitter will appear to the younger crowd at the craft table.

Materials:

  • Peat pots
  • Paint
  • Paintbrushes
  • Vintage clip art or stickers
  • Glue gun
  • Mod Podge (or white glue) and wide brush
  • White glitter
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Beads (optional)
  • Ribbon or trim (optional)
  • Silk flowers (optional)
     

Peat Pot Easter Baskets Materials

Instructions:

  1.  Paint the peat pot in a pastel color. This step is optional.

  2. Allow the peat pot to dry (we put our pots in front of the fan to speed up the drying time).
  3. Cover your pot with stickers or cover with vintage Easter post cards or printables using white glue or Mod Podge.

  4. Add another layer of Mod Podge to the graphic and then sprinkle fine white glitter over the entire peat pot.

  5. Punch holes in the side of the pot using a hole punch and attach pipe cleaners to form a handle.

  6. String beads onto the pipe cleaners.
     
  7. Add rick rack and ribbon to the baskets using a glue gun. This step is also optional.
     
  8. Fill the baskets with shredded paper and Easter goodies!

These peat moss Easter baskets are so creative! You could use wallpaper scraps, magazine photos, or greeting cards as well as the vintage clip art or stickers if you have those on hand! I have cut out images from wallpaper scraps that have really looked quite elegant! And the best part, your project is unique and no one else has one like it! Add some ribbon bows, or a band of ribbon around the top, or glue on some silk flowers here and there for some more prettiness! Thanks for the great instructions!
