Too Cute Snowman
This adorable snowman really is Frosty the Snowman – you ‘frost’ Styrofoam® pieces with Aleene’s® True Snow™ for a realistic looking winter scene.
Materials:
- Aleene's® Snow
- Tulip® 3D Fashion Paint
- 65012 Deep Red
- 65032 Leaf Green
- 65038 Black
- 65049 Orange
- Aleene's® Original Tacky Glue®
- Buttons, 2 small blue
- Styrofoam® sheet, 1” thick x 8”
- Scarf or ribbon, ½” wide
- Styrofoam® balls: 4”, 3”
- Knives: serrated, palette
- Candy to fill pot
- Pot, 1” wood or pottery
- Paintbrush, flat
- Toothpicks, 5
- Twigs for arms
- Hat, miniature to fit on 3” diameter ball
- Pencil or blunt object to make holes in Styrofoam®
- Foil
- Acrylic Paint, Turquoise, Blue and Lime Green
Steps:
1. For base, round edges of Styrofoam sheet, using serrated knife.
2. So snowman sits flat, cut ½” off opposite sides of 4” ball. Cut off ½” on one side of 3” ball.
3. Break or cut several toothpicks in half. Insert three toothpick pieces in flat side of 3” ball, leaving ½”extending out. Apply glue on toothpicks and on flat area of ball. Place 3” and 4” balls together. Let dry.
4. Apply True Snow on snowman body, using palette knife. NOTE: Do not apply to bottom of snowman. Let dry.
5. Lay snowman flat. Glue on buttons. Add dots of Black 3D Paint for eyes. For nose, squeeze out a ¼” diameter circle of Orange 3D Paint and gently pull up forming a point. For cheeks, squeeze a small puddle of Deep Red 3D Paint on foil. Dip finger in paint, dab off excess on foil and dab on for cheeks. Apply Deep Red from bottle to make smile. Let dry.
6. Glue scarf around neck. Glue hat to top of snowman.
7. Make holly leaves using Leaf Green 3D Paint. Add two dots of Deep Red for berries. Let dry.
8. Insert three toothpick pieces in bottom of snowman, leaving ½”extending out. Apply glue on toothpicks and on flat area of ball. Insert in Styrofoam base.
9. Apply True Snow to base, using palette knife. Add True Snow around base of hat. Let dry.
10. Make hole for arms using a pencil. Add a dot of glue around twig end and insert in hole. Repeat for other arm. Dab True Snow on twigs sparingly.
11. Paint bottom section of pot Turquoise. Paint rim Blue. Let dry. Dip nonbristle end of brush in Lime and add dots to bottom section. Dip brush in paint for each dot. Let dry. Glue pot slightly behind snowman, fill with candies.
