Simple Spring Girls Crochet Dress Pattern

Spring is the best season of the year, so why not celebrate with some free crochet dress patterns? This Simple Spring Girls Crochet Dress Pattern is a very simple dress that is great for beginners. Your little princess will want to wear this pretty dress all season long. The light and airy look is perfect for the season. If you have some crochet knowledge and don't feel like spending an arm and a leg at a store, this is a great alternative. This free crochet dress pattern will make your little girl feel great and will keep them comfortable whether it's chilly or unseasonably warm. Have her wear it on Easter and to celebrate the end of the school year - it works for any occasion.

Easy

Crochet Hook: I/9 or 5.5 mm hook

Yarn Weight: (4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Materials List
  • Worsted Weight Yarn
  • Yarn Needle
  • Ric Rac
  • Permanent Fabric Tape
  • Satin Fabric
  • Glue Gun
  • Sewing Machine (Optional)
  • Flame
  • Rhinestones
  • I 5.5 mm hook
  • Small piece of felt
Instructions
  1. Straps (Make 2) Ch 10, {hdc, sc} into the 3rd chain from the hook, "skip 1 chain, {hdc, sc} into the next chain" Repeat "" to the end. Turn
  2. Ch 1, {hdc, sc} into the next stitch, "skip 1 chain, {hdc, sc} into the next stitch" Repeat "" to the end. Turn
  3. Repeat row 2 (24 times) Tie off
  4. Dress Ch 9, grab the first strap, sc into the next 8 stitches, chain 12, grab the opposite end of the strap ensuring that you do not twist it, sc into the next 8 stitches, chain 18, grab the 2nd strap, sc into the next 8 stitches, chain 12, grab the opposite end of the strap ensuring that you do not twist it, sc into the next 9 stitches, chain . Turn
  5. Ch 2, {hdc,sc} into the 3rd chain from the hook, "skip 1 stitch, {hdc, sc} into the next stitch" Repeat "" 44 times, ch 2, skip 2 stitches, sc into the last stitch. Turn
  6. Ch 1, sc into the next 3 stitches, {hdc, sc} into the next stitch, "skip 1 stitch, {hdc, sc} into the next stitch" Repeat "" to the end. Turn
  7. Repeat rows 5 & 6 (8 more times)
  8. Ch 2, {hdc,sc} into the 3rd chain from the hook, "skip 1 stitch, {hdc, sc} into the next stitch" Repeat "" 44 times, ch 2, skip 2 stitches, sc into the last stitch. Turn
  9. Ch 1, sc into the next 3 stitches, {hdc, sc} into the next stitch, "skip 1 stitch, {hdc, sc} into the next stitch" Repeat "" to the end. Join to the beginning using a sl st.
  10. Ch 2, hdc into each stitch. Join with a sl st.
  11. Ch 2, "fphdc around the next stitch, bphdc around the next stitch" Repeat "" to the end. Join with a sl st.
  12. Ch 2, "fphdc around the next stitch, bphdc around the next stitch" Repeat "" to the end. Join with a sl st.
  13. Ch 4, 2dc into the same stitch, "skip 3 stitches, {2dc, ch 1, 2dc} into the next stitch" Repeat "" to the end, dc into the last stitch. Join with a sl st.
  14. Ch 4, 3 dc into the same stitch, "skip 4 stitches, {3dc, ch 1, 3dc} into the chain space" Repeat "" to the end, 2 dc into the last stitch. Join with a sl st.
  15. Ch 4, dc into the same space, "skip 4 stitches, {dc, ch 1, dc} into the chain space" Repeat "" to the end. Join with a sl st.
  16. Repeat row 15 (24 more times) Tie off
  17. Sew buttons onto the back side of the dress
  18. For the headband and waist accent Ch 86 with the thin ric rac. Tie off. Set aside
  19. Cut a piece of satin. (4 inches x slightly longer than the measurement of the waist)
  20. Fold it in half long ways (hot dog style) Sew down the edge and turn inside out.
  21. Fold the end of one side of the tube and insert the other end of the tube inside. Sew it together. ( I used the permanent fabric tape for this section)
  22. Apply the fabric tape to the dress, slide the satin loop around the dress. Ensure that the seams are not visible. Press into place.
  23. For the flowers Cut out 3x4 inch rectangular pieces
  24. Cut them into tear drop shapes. ( I find it easier to do several at once.
  25. Take a flame and singe the edges.
  26. Cut out a circle of felt.
  27. Use a glue gun to attach each petal in a spiral formation.
  28. Finish it off with a rhinestone in the center.
  29. Attach the flowers with the permanent fabric tape. Weave in all the ends.

Any idea what the size is on this dress?

Yes, I was wondering the same thing. From the sounds of it, based on gauge, etc., I'd guess about a size 7-8, but it sure would be helpful if this info was included.
