In the Designer's Words: "A fun floral hippie, trippy, psychedelic pastel and neon fusion made using treble crochet (US double), double treble crochet (US treble), double crochet (US Single) and a combination of chains. The pretty double frill edge looks so cute and is actually very simple to crochet... a combination of treble crochet (US double), htc (hdc), double crochet (US single) and chains. As with all my patterns, there are no set rules! Pick your own colours, yarn weights and change up a stitch if you want to... I think too many rules and regulations squish individual creativity, and that's what makes Fibre Art awesome!"

Celebrate the 60s with this stunning, charming, and easy crochet pattern. Learning how to crochet a mandala helps you add peaceful and pretty accents to your home. Whether you use this free crochet pattern as a potholder or just decide to display it, the Psychedelic 60s Crochet Mandala will easily add bright and beautiful colors to your world. Put on some Grateful Dead records and get to creating a funky project.

As princess 6860504 mentioned, mandalas are a thing right now. They are in everything from decorations, to blankets, rugs, and even clothing. This mandala is kind of unique though. It has a round that is raised about an inch, making it like a shallow bowl. It could be used for a wide variety of things. The colour changes arent specified in the pattern, so you need to refer to the picture often. There isnt a stitch section either, so you have to interpret what is meant by put a cute popcorn or bobble stitch. I made mine in worsted weight yarn and a 5.5 mm hook, making it 12 when completed.

Size 12 inches. The inches symbol was sanitized from my post.

Mandalas are a "thing" lately. I didn't know anything about them until very recently. And I'm "hooked"! There is no right or wrong way to construct your mandala as long as you understand how to work in the round and how to do your increases appropriately so that it does not ruffle or pucker. I admire the designer's attitude about being a true artist with individuality. This pattern goes so good with those tiny little sugar skulls in the background. I am going to try this one out and I'll let you know how I did!
