Sweet and Silver Holiday Sphere

By: Sue Eldred from Sue's Creative Workshop

Who doesn't love the Christmas season? The entire neighborhood is covered in pretty Christmas decorations, like Sue's Sweet and Silver Holiday Sphere. To make this Christmas craft, be sure to let each layer properly dry, and be careful as you mount your silver ball on top. It is also important not to use alcohol based adhesive, as it will destroy the foam. This gorgeous glitter globe will add just the right amount of sparkle to your Christmas decor.

Sweet and Silver Holiday Sphere

  1. 1" x 6" x 12" Smoothfoam sheet
  2. 4" x 4" x 4" Smoothfoam cube

  5. Wood dowel rod
  6. Black acrylic paint
  7. Silver acrylic paint
  8. Silver glitter
  9. Tacky glue
  10. Paintbrush
  11. Sanding block
  12. Silver ribbon
  13. Decorative button

  • Cut the smoothfoam sheet into two pieces – one- 5" x 5" and the other 6" x 6".
  • Stack and glue those pieces together along with a 4" cube using a tacky glue.
  • After the glue dries, paint the smoothfoam base with black acrylic paint.
  • Sponge silver acrylic paint over the black to create the glittery coating.
  • Paint the dowel rod with silver acrylic paint.
  • Lightly sand the seams of the 6" circle.
  • Poke hole into the circle and insert the rod.
  • Cover the ball with glue and apply glitter.
  • Once dry, poke a hole in the center of the 4" cube and insert the circle and the rod.
  • Wrap the base with silver ribbon and glue into place.
  • Glue the decorative button on top of the ribbon.
