Soap Dispenser Mason Jar Craft

How to Make a Soap Dispenser with a Mason Jar

  1. Remove the lid from your jar and paint three coats of your base color that you want to see under your top coat.

  2. Once dry, paint two coats of your second color overtop of your first and allow to dry completely.

  3. Carefully sand your jar until the inner color comes through. Sand the label, and sand randomly on the sides and edges until you're satisfied with the look of your mason jar.

  4. Dust the jar off, fill it with soap, screw on your insert, and enjoy your beautiful rustic jar soap dispenser!

I was given one of these as a gift and while I really like it, the spout is too short to reach all the way across the lid, so that it's hard to keep from getting the soap everywhere but in your hand. Just a heads up for those of you who want to make your own, make sure the spout part of the pump extends at least to the edge of the top.

Thank you Cheryl for the info regarding the pump in the lid. I wasn't sure how that would work in finding the right thing. Painting the jar looks nice but I wouldn't mind leaving it clear so I could see how much soap or lotion is left. The nice thing is that this jar holds more and so once you fill,it, ou don't have tomdomit as often which is nice. Customizing your jar with an inspirational word would be fun and also make a nice gift!

Great pair for the bathroom with the toothbrush holder as a mate. You could also highlight the words with gold paint instead of the two coats of color. Love this one!

I love this idea of the Soap Dispenser Mason Jar Craft. My husband an I made these a few years ago. I bought some foaming hand soap at the dollar store and saved the soap pumps. I had my husband drill the whole in the top of the mason jar lid and I added a plastic washer to the lid and then inserted the soap pump. We had a bunch of his Grandma's old mason jars that has a nice design on the glass that we used. I'm not sure about painting the jars with them always getting wet and need washing. We also made a larger one for the kitchen dish soap, I just re used a pump for a hand lotion bottle that works great. I love to re use items to save the dump yards from filling up. Thank you for sharing this free craft idea.

I love this idea to use mason jars and paint them to make soap dispensers especially if you can not find the color you are looking for but where do you get the soap pump insert from. So simple and easy and you can paint any way you like maybe some glitter or a wash. The video got stuck at first after he shows the mason jars but I pulled the arrow forward and it started to go but there is also a tutorial but he said nothing about the pump part. Well easy enough and a great project idea.

LOVE the idea. Need to find plastic jars instead of glass if you have children. I don't know if they have them out there to buy.

Loving all of the Mason jar uses. #NationalCraftMonth2017

I have a lotion dispenser out of a mason jar but never thought about painting it. #NationalCraftMonth2017

Anything Mason Jar is 5star in my book! TFS! #nNationalCraftMonth2017

#NationalCraftMonth2017 I have done this before, but instead of painting I used polka dot duct tape.

I have made a dispenser similar to this but not painted. I love it. So far, none of the kids have tried to eat any of the soap... I guess if there's that possibility, you shouldn't be leaving the child unattended? lol #NationalCraftMonth2017

the hashtag #NationalCraftMonth2017 makes as much sense as using a food container for SOAP! Keep it out of reach of kids who might try to eat it.

Great idea there are so many thing you can do with mason jars..the possibilities are endless #NationalCraftMonth2017

looks easy enough! #NationalCraftMonth2017

I love this idea, problem for me, the craft stores in my area don't have the lids, can I order them. Super great idea

This is so adorable! I am putting this on my to make list. #NationalCraftMonth2017
