Is it the fact that you got this boot cuff pattern free that makes you smile, or the intricate ripple stitches all over it? Whatever the reason for your joy, you know for sure that this boot cuff pattern will be making an appearance in your future crochet projects.

Rich Ripple Stitch Boot Cuff

  • I Love This Yarn medium (4) worsted weight, ivory color
  • Crochet Hook Size – H
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in the ends

9 stitches and 3 rows = approximately 2 inches

ch – chain

st – stitches

sl st – slip stitch

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

hdc – half double crochet

  1. Top Portion of Boot Cuff
  2. Row 1:  Ch 11 turn.
  3. Row 2:  Sc in second ch from hook and across, ch 1 turn. (10 st)
  4. Row 3:  Sc and 2 dc in first stitch, *skip 2 stitches, sc and 2 dc in next st*, repeat from * to * across and sc in last st. Ch 1 and turn. (10 st)
  5. Repeat row 3 until the desired measurement and fasten off leaving a long tail.
  6. Join ends together using the long tail and take the side just fastened off using the tapestry needle to sew the front loop only of the stitch and the bottom loop of each sc on the first row. Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Bottom Portion of Boot Cuff

  1. Row 1:  Join to cuff by ch 1 and sc evenly around, sl st into first sc (not the ch 1). (Hint) You will later be decreasing stitches so be sure that your stitches will divide by 4 evenly then add two more sc (Example:  Sc 40 stitches plus 2=42 stitches around). 42 will actually be a good number to use on the average size cuff.
  2. Row 2:  ch 2, dc into next dc and around, Sl st in top of ch 2 st.
  3. Row 3:  ch 1 and sc in same sp, sc in next st and around, sl st in first sc.
  4. Row 4:  ch 2, dc into next dc and around, Sl st in top of ch 2 st.
  5. Row 5:  ch 1 and sc in same sp, sc in next st and around, sl st in first sc.
  6. Row 6:  ch 2, dc into next dc and around, Sl st in top of ch 2 st.
  7. Row 7:  ch 1 and sc in same space, sc in next 3 stitches, *skip next sc, sc in next 4 st*, repeat from * to * across, sl st in first sc.
  8. Row 8:  ch 2 and hdc in next stitch and around, sl stitch in top of ch 2 st.
  9. Row 9:  ch 1 and sc in same sp, sc in next stitch and around, sl stitch in first sc. Fasten off and weave in ends.
  10. Add buttons if desired.

I love boot cuffs! They make even the most ordinary pair of boots unique. You can personalize these by changing the color used in the pattern. These would look great in any color. The pattern is so easy, and makes the most beautiful creation once its finished. Once it gets closer to winter again, I will have to make a few pairs of these!

I have been crocheting for decades. It never ceases to amaze me how we can manipulate our yarn by putting two different stitches in the same space to create such a textured and unique look. I tried making a sweater using this stitch and it came out so beautiful. I think I could make coffee cozies with this same pattern!

This rIch Ripple Stitch Boot Cuffs are adorable. I am definitely going to make a pair of these. The pattern sounds rather easy and quick to do. I love making these boot cuffs. They have become more popular in the last couple of years. Making them in different colors would be the way to go. Have one for every color in your wardrobe. Definitely a pattern to try.
