Materials List

  • Testors Craft Intense Glitter Paint
  • Plastic Owl Mask from a .99 cent store
  • Multi Surface Acrylic Paint in Grey and Black
  • Metallic Multi Surface Acrylic Paint in Blue and Green
  • 2 Paint Brushes
  • Beacon Gem-Tac Glue
  • Swarovski Rhinestones Flatback Vitrail Medium SS20
  • Clear Crystal Rhinestone Flatback 4mm and 3mm
  • Crayon
  • Silver Ribbon
  • Beads, Bead Thread and Jumprings *optional

Instructions

  1. Clean plastic Halloween mask with soap and water.

  2. Paint mask with acrylic paint base coat similar in color to the glitter.

  3. Stir thoroughly the Testors Craft Intense Glitter paint, apply first coat to mask and let dry for 4 hours.

  4. Repeat step 3 two more times to get a vibrant and intense glitter coverage.

  5. Apply a light color wash of black multi surface acrylic paint in the groves of the feather details to add more contrast to detailed sections of the mask. Let the paint dry fully.

  6. Use Beacon’s Gem-Tac to apply small dots of glue to the surface to the mask. Apply rhinestones to the glue dots with a crayon as a applicator.

  7. Create a acrylic paint color wash with metallic blue and green paint. Apply this color directly on top of each glittered feather element of the mask and in the eyelid creases. Let the paint dry fully.

  8. Thread silver ribbon through each side of the mask. Fold the end of the ribbon under and glued it in place, pressing down firmly with fingers and used a clothespin to hold in place while the glue dries.

  9. *Optional String some crystal beads onto a 9 inch length of beading thread and thread it through two tiny holes that were part of the original mask.

NotesTake your time applying the Testors Craft Intense Glitter paint. Apply in a uniform direction. No need to rush it, slow, steady and even brush strokes get the best and most even application of paint.
