Fabric Covered Notebook or Diary

"Slip-on Notebook covers are so quick and easy to make. Use a hard wearing fabric so that they last and you can make one in under an hour. Measuring your book and cutting out your fabric pieces is the hardest part. Easy to sew on the machine but you could hand sew one. Cover your next diary and have a super stylish top of the range diary for very little cost. Great gift idea too!"

NotesThese are so easy to make but if you use good quality fabric they look really stylish and expensive. If you need more help take a look at my blog for more details and photographs.

Instructions

  1. Measure your notebook

  2. Add sewing seam allowances to top and bottom measurements.

  3. Cut out one piece of fabric for the cover that is the size of the open notebook plus seam allowances.

  4. Cut out a lining piece that is the size of the cover plus 4 times the pocket width you require.

  5. Sew the two pieces together along the side edges, right sides facing, to form a tube.

  6. Place down on a flat surface so that the cover is in the middle of the lining piece. Pin together and sew, leaving a gap for turning out.

  7. Clip the corners and turn out the cover. Top stitch around the whole thing.

  8. Place the notebook on the cover and pin the pockets so that the notebook fits.

  9. Hand sew the pockets in place and you are finished!
