Rustic Wedding Bench

Create a memorable wedding gift with the Rustic Wedding Bench project. This DIY bench was made from April's daughter's headboard from when she was six years old. Transforming the headboard into a new bench for her first home makes for a great story and a memorable piece of furniture. Add the wedding date and other personal touches to this project and you will love the way this project turns out.

Primary TechniquePainting

Materials:

  • 6 Metal square posts
  • 4 Old 2x4 pieces of wood
  • 5 Cans of Krylon® Enamel Paint
  • 2 Cans of Krylon® Clear Polyurethane Coating
  • 2 Cans of Krylon® Craft Series Hammerd Finish
  • 1 Quart of oak stain
  • 1 Metal headboard

Time to Complete: 2 weeks

Instructions:

  1. Weld frame for bench and attach headboard. Grind and smooth welding spots. Cut and stain wood boards to fit seat.
  2. Paint frame of bench with Krylon® Craft Hammered Series Paint. Hand paint the boots on the head board with various colors of paint. Paint the couples Brand and their Wedding Date.
  3. Attach wood with screws for the seat.
  4. Paint whole bench with Krylon® Polyurethane.
  5. Deliver to the happy couple's first home!
