Materials List

  • A canvas pillow cover
  • Pillow form
  • Fabric paint
  • Kitchen sponges
  • Freezer paper
  • Scissors or a craft knife
  • Iron

Instructions

  1. Find a design or image and print it on a large sheet of paper, the size you want it on the pillow.

  2. Lay the freezer paper shiny side down on the print and trace around the image.

  3. Cut out the design, but don't forget about the pieces that comprise the insides of letters! Save those for later.

  4. Lay the shiny side of the freezer paper on the pillow cover, along with the little pieces inside the letters, and lay the cotton cloth over the top. Iron it on. The shiny side becomes adhesive and sticks to your pillow cover.

  5. Insert a magazine or something similar inside the pillowcase to prevent the paint from bleeding through.

  6. Using a kitchen sponge, dab color inside the designs and onto the fabric.

  7. Let dry for 24 hours.

  8. Peel away the freezer paper and insert the pillow form. This project works great with canvas tote bags as well!
