Mr. & Mrs. Claus Lightbulb Ornaments

Mr Mrs Claus Lightbulb Ornaments

"I used 2 large recycled globe light bulbs, acrylic paint, lace and yarn. I also used a hot glue gun. I painted the faces on the bulbs. While they dried, I crocheted the hats. I then attached lace trim to Mrs. Claus's bonnet. I took a piece of yarn long enough to make the hanging loop. I tried it around the screw part of the bulb and hot glued it in place. When that dried, I fed the loop through the top of the hats, and then hot glued the hats to the bulbs. Time varies per crocheting skills."

Materials List

  • Acrylic paint, colors for skin, eyes, hair, lips, and glasses.
  • Yarn
  • Lace
  • Hot glue and hot glue gun
  • Recycled large globe bulbs, (can use any size, but crocheting the hats is easier for larger size).

Instructions

  1. Wash off light bulbs.

  2. Paint flesh tone over the entire bulb. Let dry.

  3. Paint on face, then hair. Let dry.

  4. Crochet hats. Add lace to bonnet.

  5. Take a piece of yarn (as long as you would want for the hanging loop). Time around base of bulb and hot glue in place. Let dry.

  6. Feed loop (you just made) through top of hat/bonnet and then hot glue hat/bonnet in place on bulb. Let dry.

NotesI haven't crocheted in 20 years. Just playing around and created the hat/bonnet. I have no pattern for them, but I'm sure a pattern can be found. Or just create your own.
