Knitting Needle Size6 or 4 mm

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Gauge21 sts and 28 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in stocking st.

Materials List

  • Bernat® Handicrafter® Twists (80 g/2.8 oz)  45708 (Yuletide Twist ) 2 (2-2) balls, OR
  • Bernat® Handicrafter® Twists (280 g/9.9 oz) 66708 (Yuletide Twist) 1 (1-1) ball, OR
  • Bernat® Handicrafter® Cotton (50 g/1.75 oz) 2(2-2) balls
  • Size 4 mm (U.S. 6) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge.
  • Optional: Ribbon.

Instructions

  1. Cast on 13 sts.

  2. 1st row: (RS). K3. M1. K1 (place marker on last st). M1. K5. M1. K1 (place marker on last st). M1. K3. 17 sts.

  3. 2nd and alt rows: Purl.

  4. 3rd row: K4. M1. Knit marked st. M1. K7. M1. Knit marked st. M1. K4. 21 sts.

  5. 5th row: K5. M1. Knit marked st. M1. K9. M1. Knit marked st. M1. K5. 25 sts.

  6. 7th row: K6. M1. Knit marked st. M1. K11. M1. Knit marked st. M1. K6. 29 sts.

  7. Cont in this manner, working M1 at either side of marked sts on following alt rows twice more. 37 sts.

  8. Cont even in stocking st until work from beg measures 4 (4¼-4½) ins [10 (11-11.5) cm] ending with a purl row. Place marker at each end of last row.

  9. Next row: (RS). Knit.

  10. Next row: K9. P19. K9.

  11. Rep last 2 rows until work from beg measures 8½ (9-9½) ins [21.5 (23-24) cm] ending with a RS row.

  12. Next row: (WS). K9. (K1. K2tog) 6 times. K1. K9. 31 sts.

  13. Next row: K9. Cast off 13 sts. K9.

  14. Join a 2nd ball of yarn to first 9 sts. Working both sides at same time, cont in garter st (knit every row) until strips from cast off edge measure 1¼ ins [3 cm]. Cast off . Sew ends of back strips tog. Sew side of strips to cast off edge of Slipper. Sew center front seam to marked row. Sew toe closed.

Notes:

  1. Tie ribbon into bow and sew to slippers.
