Vintage Dress Form Card

Vintage Dress Form Card

"To create the trademark vintage look, I used muted colors and distressed edges. I used a newsprint stamp to create the background and applied brown ink lightly along the edge to create the aged appearance. To embellish the card, I used a variety of random buttons. So I rummaged through my stash to use the spare buttons that are often included when you buy a new garment. I selected a thoughtful sentiment to lend that extra bit of support to someone struggling with life's circumstances. A simple act of encouragement can really lift someone's spirit with a handmade card."

Materials List

  • Stamps: dress form, sentiment
    newsprint background, clock
ink pads: (black, rust, blue, green, brown)
    ink blending sponge

  • Tools:
    scissors, foam tape, liquid adhesive
  • Paper:
    card stock (craft & maroon)
    card base (6x6")
  • Embellishments: buttons

Instructions

  1. Stamp three dress form figures each with a different color ink. Carefully, cut around each image.

  2. Use brown ink to stamp a honeycomb pattern creating a wide textured border. Use an ink blending sponge to lightly distress the edge of the card with brown ink giving it an aged appearance.

  3. Adhere the three dress form figures to the card. Use foam tape for the center figure to create added dimension.

  4. Stamp the sentiment with black ink near the top right corner.

  5. Matte the finished piece on maroon paper.

  6. Adhere a random collection of buttons at the base of the dress forms.

The rubber stamps for my card are from Blank Page Muse.
