Nuvo Drop Butterfly DIY Card

From the Designer: "I have been using Tonic's Nuvo drops to add enamel accents to my projects as a final embellishment. I wanted to experiment with alternative ways to bring the drops to life. After being introduced to the glitter drops at the Blogger Event by Gary from Tonic, I decided to make the Nuvo drops the spotlight on the card by using them to fill in a stencil."

Materials List

  • Tonic Dazzling Blue Nuvo Glitter Drops
  • Tonic Pink Champagne Nuvo Glitter Drops
  • Tonic Silver Moondust Nuvo Glitter Drops
  • Tonic Aquatic Mist Nuvo Glitter Drops
  • Card Base
  • Butterfly Stencil

Instructions

  1. Begin with a card base (either homemade or bought). The card base I used is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 when folded.

  2. Take a stencil with a big solid image (such as a butterfly) and attach it using removable adhesive such as washi tape so the card and stencil don't move.

  3. Hold the Nuvo Drops bottle against the cardstock and squeeze until you get a drop in the desired size. Be sure to stop squeezing before pulling up to avoid peaks in the enamel. Note: If you are right handed you should start from the left and work your way right until the stencil is full.

  4. Alternate using as many colours as you like. Pull up the stencil carefully or you can remove the stencil after the drops dry to be on the safe side.

  5. Let dry overnight in order for the enamel dots to maintain their original thickness.
