Crochet a mesh dishcloth out of a produce bag! You don't need to throw away the bag your oranges came in, and you don't need to go out and buy yarn for your next project, either. This easy crochet dishcloth pattern works up quickly because of the thick mesh, and it'll work wonders scrubbing pots and pans! All you need to do is cut the produce bag into a long strip and use that as your "yarn". If you've worked up any plarn patterns in your time, you'll be familiar with working with a slightly tricky substance. The results are so worth it. These dishcloths make excellent gifts, work up so fast, and cost you nothing. Recycle those produce bags for a great purpose with this pattern.

Materials List

  • 1 mesh produce bag
  • L crochet hook

Instructions

  1. Cut the mesh produce bag into 1 1/2" strips. Note: depending on the thickness of the mesh, you may be able to keep the width closer to just 1". Use the image below as a reference for how to cut the bag to maximize your material with the fewest joins.

  2. Ch 4 and sl st in 1st st to form a ring.

  3. Ch 2 (counts as first dc), 15 dc in ring (16 dc total). Join.

  4. Ch 2, then 2 dc in each space (of dc from row before, 32 dc total). Join.

  5. Fasten off, weave in ends.
