How to make a Unicorn Spit Glass Vase

"If you are anything like me your kitchen cupboards are full of odd glasses and vases that you no longer have a use for. With unicorn spit, you can turn them into stunning decorative pieces for your home. This project is so simple to do even a child can do it. Unicorn Spit stain and glaze is a coloured wood stain that can also be used on many surfaces. Glass is my personal favourite and the end results look gorgeous."

Materials List

  • Glasses or vases (thrift stores are a great source)
  • Unicorn spit stain and glaze
  • metallic gold spray paint
  • spray bottle with water
  • tape

Instruction

  1. Wash glass to remove any dirt and grease.

  2. Pour some unicorn spit around the inside rim of the glass. Don't add too many colours and use black sparingly. If the stain does not flow freely you can dilute it.

  3. Let the colour run down the surface, and keep turning the glass until the entire surface is covered.

  4. You will get some pooling at the bottom, don't worry that is normal.

  5. Using a spray bottle with water inside, set spray to fine mist.

  6. Spray the inside of the glass 3 times

  7. Turn glass face down on a paper towel and let the excess run out. (you can scoop up the excess and add it to a new glass) why waste.

  8. As the excess spit runs out and dries the veins will form. Then turn the glass face up to finish drying. It will look powdery when dry.

  9. Wipe the rim, and add a layer of tape around the outside to protect the surface from overspray.

  10. Using metallic gold spray paint, spray the inside of the glass to seal the Unicorn Spit. The inside will be completely gold no colour showing.

NotesThese vases are decorative only, for use with artificial flowers. Unicorn spit is a waterbased stain which is activated by water. Once sealed they can be wiped over with a damp cloth to clean
