Primitive Mason Jar Lantern
In the Designer's Words: "Repurpose those glass jars into primitive lanterns with Mod Podge, instant coffee granules, masking tape, and some annealed wire to hang it by. To make a primitive lantern first start with a clean jar, then tape off one side of the jar with the painters tape placing the tape edges together and making it just a little larger then you want your star to be. Great way to keep those glass jars out of the land fills and add a little primitive charm for those late evening around the patio. "

- Mason Jar
- Mod podge
- Instant coffee granules
- Masking tape or painters tape
- X-Acto knife
- Disposal container for mixing
- Paint brush
- Star pattern
- Mixing stick
- Pencil
Instructions

To make a primitive lantern first start with a clean jar.

Then tape off one side of the jar with masking tape by placing the tape edges together and making it just a little larger then you want your star to be.

Draw your star onto the tape using a star pattern.

Now use your X-Acto knife and cut around the star.

Gently remove the tape around the star, leaving the star in place.

Mix up about a 1/4 cup of mod podge with 1 teaspoon of instant coffee. If you want darker add more and lighter add less coffee.

Paint the outside of your jar with the mod podge coffee mixture leaving the star in place.

Once dry remove the star, and using your X-Acto knife you can clean any rough edges.

Add wire around the rim of the jar and add a handle to hang by.

Place a battery operated LED tealight inside and now you have a primitive lantern.
