Decorated Sand Art Jars

From the Designer: "Upcycle glass jars with some decorative sand and Mod Podge to make cool containers for your next outdoor party. Make fun shapes with Style Tech Craft vinyl as a mask and them have fun with different colors of sand. Use these decorate sand art jars for vases, utensil holders, or a simple votive. These would also make fun wedding, birthday, or graduation decor as you can make them any color you wish by just changing up the color of the sand. Such a fun and easy craft that kids can get in and play too!!"

Materials List

  • glass jars
  • Mod Podge Ultra
  • rope
  • glue
  • colored sand
  • style tech craft vinyl

Instructions

  1. Clean the upcycled glass jars of all labels and sticky bits.

  2. Mask of the area you wish for the glass to show with the vinyl. Now is your chance to make some cool designs

  3. Spray the Mod Podge Ultra onto the open glass parts one section at a time.

  4. Sprinkle on the sand in the color of your choice. Repeat until all the glass parts are covered with sand.

  5. Let dry for about 1 hour.

  6. Remove the vinyl masks and let completely dry, over night is best to complete seal the sand to the jars.

  7. Add burlap trim to the top with glue.
