Materials List

  • An old lamp shade (you only need the frame)
  • Aluminium tape
  • Card stock
  • Fishing gut
  • Scissors
  • Large silver star or any other trinket (optional)
  • Cuttlebug and embossing folders (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cover the card stock on both sides with the aluminium tape. I love using self-adhesive aluminium tape, it’s much cheaper than pewter and it sticks like crazy. One roll goes a loooooooong way and it’s waterproof. If you have a Cuttlebug you can add some texture and patterns for a little extra oomph.

  2. Using scissors cut out lots of hearts from the aluminium cover card stock. They can be any size or shape and the amount you need will depend on how big your lamp shade is. I cut out 80 ranging in size from teeny little 4 cm long hearts to bigger ones that are about 10 cm long.

  3. Make a small hole at the top and bottom of each heart and string the hearts together using the fishing gut. Leave a 20 cm piece of gut to tie the strings to the lamp shape.

  4. Add as many strings as you like until you’re happy and then hang the mobile under a shade tree or outside your bedroom window and watch the hearts dance gently in the wind.
