There is no doubt that your kids will be begging for party craft ideas that celebrate their newest hobby, Pokémon Go. If your little Pikachu is another year older and ready to celebrate, make these DIY party décor ideas for their big day. This Pokémon-inspired craft is actually very easy to make and can be displayed in their room after the party. All you need for the Pokemon-Inpsired Party light is a paper lantern, some paint, and a few more supplies. You can easily shop around and find the materials at your local dollar store.

In the Designer's Words: "You can make a Pokemon party lantern in just minutes. Make a bunch for your Pokemon Go themed party or string them around your child’s room. Either way this fun project is so quick and easy. You can even get the kids involved with helping to make this fun decor. Materials List

  • White paper lanterns (these come in a wide variety of sizes but I used the 8 inch version)
  • Red craft paint
  • Paint brush
  • Black ribbon (I used the 5/8″ size ribbon however you may want to go wider if you use a larger lantern)
  • Black and white card stock
  • Hot glue and glue gun
  • Scissors or circle cutter

Instructions

  1. Start by wrapping the ribbon around the approximate center of the assembled paper lantern. Mark around the center with a marker. NOTE: The wire inside of the lanterns is on a spiral so you cannot use the wires as a guide when painting.

  2. Use your marker line as a guide and paint the top half of the lantern red with craft paint and a paint brush. I rigged up a system in my craft room to hang the lanterns as they dried.

  3. While the lanterns dry, cut two circles from the black and white card stock. Make the black one slightly larger than the white one.

  4. Once everything is dry, use the hot glue gun to begin adding the ribbon to the center of your Pokemon party lantern. I added the circles with hot glue as well and put them right over where the ribbon overlapped. This way there is no seam showing on your ribbon once complete.

  5. Once you get the circles into place with hot glue, your Pokemon party lantern is ready to hang up at a party or for use as home decor in any room.
