I’m pleased to submit my pattern for the Baby Pumpkin Crochet Beanie!  It’s cute, unique, quick to make, and would make a great gift!

I created the Pumpkin Beanie one night when I was inspired to start making new hats geared toward seasons, holidays, and events.  I was looking at a photo of my baby daughter wearing a pumpkin hat from the previous year, and thought, “Hey, I could crochet one of those!”  So I did!

I learned to crochet just 2 years ago, and quickly started creating my own patterns.  Aside from my family and friends, baby hats are my true love!  I am a stay-at-home mom of 2 toddlers, an army wife, and a former middle school math teacher.  We travel a lot, and are always on the go, so crocheting is something that I can take with me almost anywhere I go!

I want to thank FaveCrafts.com for contacting me!

Hello, I do charity crocheting for our hospital and these hats will be perfect for the baby ward at holloween. I make christmas hats and year round hats for the hospital. It is such fun work and the new parents love the hats. Thanks for the new pattern!

What size hook for the Halloween Beanie?

  3. I do believe this pattern states an
“I” hook right at the beginning of the supply list.

  4. I made this hat for my granddaughter. It was simple to make, and the instructions were easy to follow. It looks adorable, and I can’t wait to see it on her head!!
    Thanks for sharing it.

  5. Would like to know how to increase the size for various older kids.

I would also like to know how to increase for various sizes. This pattern was very easy to make, need to make bigger sizes.

  7. hi crafters could someone more experienced than me tell me how to enlarge the pumpkin hat to fit 6-9 mos. old? i made this hat and it was so cute that ive been asked to make one for an older baby a.s.a.p!

  8. If you like to make baby hats you might be interested in a project our knitting group is doing. We make hats for our local hospital to give to newborns. I’m sure any hospital in your area would appreciate some also

  9. I would also like to know if anyone has increased the size of the hat and what they found to be the best way to go about it. I need to make bigger sizes too :)

  10. I guess I’m stupid, but I don’t understand the pumpkin beanie instructions. The orange stripes are horizontal, not vertical????? If they are vertical, how/where are u crocheting the green part? If u want the stripes to be vertical, I would use a back post/front post stitch. Help?

  11. You make the stripes horizontal, then when your rectangle is large enough (24 rows), you slip-stitch it together. That will make the strips run vertically, because you now have a tube, not a rectangle. Then you attach the green at the top to make the stem and the vine.

Fold up the cuff, and you’re done.

  12. i am on row 10 of this pumkin beanie pattern and there are no ridges as in the photo. i am making this for my 1st great grandson!!!! is there a way i can check to make sure the pattern is correct? thank you, sue

I’ve made several of these hats – so easy and quick! But I also would like to know how to increase the pattern to larger sizes. I did make a 6 mos size by increasing the chain stitches to 30 instead of 25. Has anyone made sizes 9-12 months?

  14. Just a thank you for the lovely pumpkin pattern.I made one and I am one for my grand daughter. I am in love with it. Pattern easy to understand fast to make .Going to make a larger one for a toddler. thank you again.

  15. Love love love this pattern thank you so much for sharing. So simple and fun to make. But as many others have asked… how on earth do you increase for larger sizes? Help!

  16. I made several of these hats for the hospital. I also made the apple hat. I just altered the top some. I kept with the red until it was time for the stem and then I changed to brown. I also made a leaf from another pattern and attached it to the stem and coming down the side of the apple. I tacked it in place. I looks adorable. It is going off to the hospital this week. this pattern is so cute and fast to make. I did not choose to put the vine on mine. I also added halloween buttons to the cuff to make it extra special for the babies. thanks so much for sharing. I love it.

  17. Ok, I am new to crocheting and I need help please. When I made my 24 rows it looks more like and oval than a rectangle and I am unsure at how much do I leave not joined together. I think the problem is with the shape. Please help thanks
