What's Cooking? Apron Project

Make an apron that looks as tasty as the goodies you bake! Mix a T-shirt with ribbon and a dash of Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paints … it's the perfect creative recipe!

Materials:

  • Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Permanent Fabric Adhesive
  • Tulip 3D Fashion Paint
    • 65000 White
    • 65010 Pink
    • 65018 Purple
    • 65037 Brown
    • 65064 Midnight Blue
  • Plastic wrap
  • Paper towels
  • Pink T-shirt
  • Foil
  • Ribbon - bright pink polka dot - 7/8" wide - 2 yards
  • Scissors
  • Pattern 1
  • Pattern 2

Instructions:

  1. Use scissors to cut just under sleeves across shirt. Determine length of apron and cut off excess as needed. The apron is double thickness of T-shirt.

  2. Fold over cut edge 1". Use scissors to snip in a slit 1/2" from edge and continue snipping slits that are about 1/2" apart along folded edge. Refer to photo. Cut a 2-yard strand of ribbon from spool. Cut one end of ribbon at an angle then thread through slits creating a waistband. Trim ends if too long. Cut a "v" shape at each end. Place a few pieces of plastic wrap inside apron to prevent paint seeping to back.

  3. A paper press technique is used for design. Loosely cut apart patterns. Start flow of Purple Slick Tulip® Dimensional Fabric Paint™ on paper towel using an even pressure on bottle for a smooth line. Practice a few times on paper towels to get feel for process. Squeeze a thin line of paint along spoon pattern edge. Flip over, position in place on apron then lightly press along lines. Remove paper, revealing design. Too much paint may distort design.

  4. Use paper press technique to fill in following areas with color indicated and press on apron where shown: Spoon - Purple slick; Bowl - Midnight Blue bowl and Purple Slick lines; Words - Pink Slick. Let dry.

  5. Cookies: Squeeze a small puddle of Brown Slick onto foil. Dip finger into paint then press several times on apron creating a cookie shape. Repeat several times until cookie is filled as shown, then squeeze random small dots of Brown Slick for "chocolate chips".

  6. Squeeze paint directly onto fabric for the following areas: Pink Slick - highlight in spoon, heart in bowl and wavy line along bottom edge; Midnight Blue Slick - wavy line along bottom edge; White Slick - random dots on remainder of apron. Let dry.

  7. Gather apron, centering on ribbon. Add a few drops of Fabric Fusion under edges of shirt on ribbon to hold in place. Let dry.

Sounds so cute, but I can't see the pictures of the patterns.
