No needle, no thread, no problem. Make a Snowflake Applique Shirt from Heidi Borchers using glue as well as peel and stick tape. No sew fabric projects are perfect for craft beginners or anyone who is short on time but interested in creating a fun and comfy wearable. You can also create applique snowflakes and add them to other wearables throughout the holiday season.

Snowflake Applique Shirt

Materials:

  • Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Peel & Stick Sheets
  • Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Peel & Stick Tape
  • Aleene’s Jewel It Glue
  • Scissors
  • Snowflake pattern of your choice
  • Pencil
  • White t-shirt – 1 for base shirt and one to cut up for appliques (or you can use other white cotton fabrics for appliques)
  • Rhinestones

Instructions:

  1. Pre-wash and dry fabrics. Do not use fabric softener in the washer or dryer.

  2. Cut away crew neck from t-shirt.

  3. Cut away edge seam from sleeves.

  4. If a turned edge hem on the sleeves is desired, apply Aleene’s Peel & Stick Tape along outside edge of sleeves. Remove a small section of release paper at a time, fold fabric edge and glue in place.

  5. Apply Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Peel & Stick Sheet to white applique fabric. Trace snowflake design of your choice onto release paper side. Cut design with scissors. (For more intricate designs, cut your appliques with die and die cut machine. Keep in mind that with the fabric and Peel & Stick Sheet, that some die cut machines will not cut through entire design patterns so you may need to cut details out with scissors.)

  6. Remove release paper from 1/2 of snowflake, determine placement at t-shirt neckline and press in place. Once 1/2 of snowflake is adhered, remove remaining release paper and use your fingers to press the applique firmly to the t-shirt. Repeat to add and layer more snowflakes.

  7. Apply a small dab of Aleene’s Jewel-It Glue to center of snowflakes and press rhinestone into glue. Be certain that the glue comes up and around to cup the rhinestone. This will help to hold the jewel in place during washing. Let glue dry completely.

  8. To preserve the rhinestones, it is recommended that you hand-wash and hang to dry.
