Stained Glass Heart

Comment On This Article

Kids can help create “stained glass” hearts to hang from windows on Valentine’s Day.

Materials

  • Tissue paper in various color
  • Black construction paper or cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • String, twine, ribbon or thread for hanging

Steps:

  1. Cut out a large black heart from a piece of construction paper. For the easiest shortcut, fold a sheet in half and draw a half-heart shape. Cut out and unfold.
  2. Draw shapes on the inside of the heart and cut out. You can have the kids cut out random shapes. It does not have to be planned!
  3. Cut out small squares of the tissue paper and glue randomly all over the back of the heart, covering the cut-out openings.
  4. Glue a loop of pink ribbon or string to the back of the heart and hang from a window so that the light shines through the different colors.
  5. Enjoy your stained glass hearts!
