Mad for Plaid Hoodie and Shoes

Go mad for plaid in a custom-made hoodie and shoes! This tartan cozy is easy to create thanks to Tulip® Cool Color Spray™ for Fabrics and masking tape.

Materials:

• Aleene's® Fabric Fusion™ Permanent Dry Cleanable Fabric Adhesive™
• Tulip® Cool Color Spray™ for Fabric
  • FLSP1 Lemon Peel
  • FLSP14 Black
  • FLSP3 Coral Red
• Masking tape, ¼” wide
• Plastic tablecloth
• Painter’s tape, blue
• Fabric, 1 yard white T-shirt/jersey material
• Shoes, white Converse
• Hoodie, black long sleeve

Steps:

Hoodie

1. Before painting, prewash fabric and hoodie to remove sizing. Do not use fabric softener in washer or dryer. Shake bottles of paint well.
    
2. Lay plastic tablecloth on flat surface. Place white T-shirt fabric on tablecloth.
    
3. Apply tape in horizontal and vertical lines on entire piece of fabric.
    
4. Spray Coral Red Cool Color Spray™ all over fabric. Let dry. Remove tape.
    
5. Apply tape horizontally over Coral Red squares. Spray with Black Cool Color Spray™. Let dry. Remove tape.
    
6. Apply tape vertically over Coral Red squares. Spray with Black paint.
    
7. In remaining vertical white areas, apply tape over lines. Spray with Lemon Peel paint. Let dry. Remove tape.
    
8. Cut plaid fabric to fit inside hood. Glue in place applying glue along edges and pressing together.
    
9. Cut out front pocket shape from plaid fabric. Glue in place at front bottom of hoodie. Refer to photo.
    
10. Repeat for cuffs.
     
11. Cut a heart from remaining fabric. Glue on at front right corner of shirt. Refer to photo.
     
12. May be washed, inside out, on gentle cycle after 72 hours.

Shoes

1. Remove laces from shoes. Prewash shoes to remove sizing. Do not use fabric softener in washer or dryer.
    
2. Tape off horizontal and vertical lines on entire fabric area of shoe, using photo as a guide.
    
3. Place plastic tablecloth on flat surface. Place shoes on tablecloth.
    
4. Spray Coral Red Cool Color Spray™ onto both shoes. Let dry. Remove tape. There will be Coral Red squares all over shoes once tape is removed.
    
5. Place tape traveling horizontally over Coral Red squares, leaving horizontal lines in between squares exposed. Spray Black Cool Color Spray™ onto exposed lines. Let dry. Remove tape. Once tape is removed, there will be white lines traveling vertically over shoes.
    
6. Place tape traveling horizontally over Coral Red squares and portion of Black lines in between squares, leaving white lines uncovered. A portion of the Black lines will be exposed, as they intersect the white lines. This is okay, as Lemon Peel paint will not show over Black. Spray uncovered lines with Lemon Peel paint. Let dry. Remove tape.
