Kids' Valentine Box

 Create this kid-friendly box as a classroom or youth group project this Valentine's Day.

Valentine Painted Box for Kids

Materials:

DecoArt Products Required
Americana Acrylics

  • DA265 - Tuscan Red

Craft Twinkles Writers

  • DCTW02 - Silver

Americana Spray Sealers

  • DAS13 - Americana Matte Spray


Supplies

  • 1" foam or flat brush
  • Foam plate
  • School glue stick
  • 1 1/2" heart hole punch, EKSuccess Paper Shapers, PSPWP2
  • Three coordinating scrapbook papers (We used red with white dots, The Goods/American Crafts, 39913; cream with red dots; and salmon paisley, Bo Bunny Press, 12VP814.)
  • Craft knife
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Flat surface (not glossy finish) photo/video box

Steps:

  1. Have adult use craft knife to cut 1" x 8" opening at center of box lid.
     
  2. Use 1" brush and Tuscan Red to paint box and box lid.
     
  3. Punch eight hearts from each paper.
     
  4. Use glue stick to apply heavy coat of glue to back of hearts and attach them to box. Note: be sure to cover heart surface completely, especially along edge.
     
  5. Use Silver Craft Twinkles to outline edges of hearts; let dry.
     
  6. Spray with Americana Matte Spray; let dry.
