Silverware Wind Chimes

Silverware Wind Chimes by Tricia Fendt

My husband made wonderful silverware wind chimes for me years ago. He used a 7-inch square of wood, several spoons, forks and five knives. The knives were used in the center and the four corners. He drilled holes in the silver and the board. He then painted the board. He used three strands of very strong fishing line to hang them at different lengths, and heavy cord to hang the wood base. It made a wonderful sound. He is now making one out of power saw blades.

I made windchimes with silverware, only I used a whisk as the holder. You cut the center of the wires, bend the ends into loops and hang whatever you want from the loops you've made. I've also used old chimes, bottle openers, sea shells, small tools, beads/stones, all kinds of things. Old chains work good for attaching the items to the loops, and make the windchime stronger. There are ways of hanging something down the middle if you are a little creative.
