Use these special tie-dye techniques from I Love to Create to create a unique result on your fabric. Dots of glue help create the interesting design in this tie-dye technique.

Before beginning any tie-dye craft project, read the instructions for the Tulip One-Step Fashion Dye or Tulip Permanent Fabric Dye.  Refer back to them for standard steps with using dye.

Glue Dots for Tie-Dye Technique Squeeze dots

Prewash fabric to remove sizing. Do not use fabric softener or dryer sheets. Cover work surface with a plastic tablecloth. Squeeze dots of Aleene’s® Clear Gel Tacky Glue onto silk scarf. Let dots dry.

Draping 2 Spray dye

Mix Tulip® One-Step Fashion Dye and apply spray nozzle to bottle. Lightly spray over scarf. Let dry.

Draping 3 Drape scarf

Fold dry scarf in half and drape scarf holding at center point. Wear gloves or protect your hand and arm with plastic.

Draping 4 Spray scarf

Spray draped scarf with full strength dye. Spray over protected area.

Cover fabric with plastic. Let set 4 to 6 hours. Fill washer to large load setting with hottest water suitable for fabric and a small amount of non-bleach laundry detergent. Wash and dry separately.
