Now It's Your Turn!

Crumple.

Prewash shirt to remove sizing. Do not use fabric softener or dryer sheets.

Cover work surface with a plastic tablecloth.

Lay fabric flat on work surface and crumple with fingertips.

Lift into a tub.

Carefully lift fabric into a baking dish or large tub.

Apply dye.

Add warm water to fill the bottles of dye and shake to mix. Apply first color of dye to fabric in an all over squiggle motion.

Apply second color dye.

Apply second color of dye in the same way. Turn fabric over and apply dyes on the back. Add more water to the bottle when dyes are halfway down to extend the dye.

Finishing touch.

Make sure the fabric is completely wet with dye. Do not over saturate fabric. If dye is applied too close together the colors may become muddy.

Cover fabric with plastic. Let set 4 to 6 hours.

Fill washer to large load setting with hottest water suitable for fabric and a small amount of non-bleach laundry detergent.

Wash and dry separately.

I have always wanted to try this sort of thing, but I have always been afraid of the mess it makes. I also worry about whether or not it will make a mess of my washer and dryer afterward. I see it states to wash and dry your dyed item separately, so I assume the colour will bleed out for a while. I like the idea of using a pyrex pan to place the item in while dying it.

This too is one I have not tried. I have done something similar, but I am looking forward to trying this! #FaveCraftsTieDye

I think I like this technique best because you do it so randomly. The results here are beautiful.

Favecrafts tie dye. Crumpling fabric is right up my alley. Want to try to dye a white ball cap and tee shirts. I'd invite my young adult daughter and a few of her friends to a tie dye party and then maybe a movie marathon. )

Another great photo tutorial...Can't wait to try this one out! FaveCraftsTieDye

FaveCraftsTieDye. You can crumple your shirt as much or as little as you want. It might even look like it came from a dorm-room floor!

This is a great technique for younger kids. Because of the nature of the bottles, and the "excitement" of the kids, while tie-dying, I found it helps to tell kids to cover the opening of the bottle with a gloved finger and then lower it to the fabric to start sprinkling, this prevents the dye from going everywhere.

There is NO picture of the finished shirt.

Devonna commented TWO YEARS AGO!!! labarbone commented ONE MONTH AGO!!! Why are there no corrections?

Whatsup with not showing the final product? I want to know what it looks like before I decide if it is something I'd want to make.

I find it would be helpful, with all these tie dyed shirts, that you show a picture of the final product. I don't know if I want to make it if I can't see a picture of what it will look like.
