Whimsical Watermelon Drinking Goblet

Prepare for a summer barbeque by decorating your own drinking goblets! A Whimsical Watermelon Drinking Goblet from Linda Peterson is perfect for kicking back on a hot afternoon! Use acrylic paint to create your own fun designs.

Materials:

  • Acrylic enamel paint – red, green, white, black (be sure to use paint specifically designed for glass)
  • Water goblet with smooth surface
  • Paintbrushes – flat and liner
  • Water bucket
  • Paper towels

Instructions:

  1. Hint: If you mess up, simply wipe away, clean with rubbing alcohol and start over.
     
  2. Side load the flat brush with red on one side and white on the other.

  3. Paint half circles for watermelons and triangles watermelon slices. Arrange as desired onto glass.

  4. Side load the brush with green and white. Paint around the watermelons and slices to create the rind. Allow to dry.

  5. Paint bottom of goblet green and allow the entire surface to dry completely.
     
  6. Use a needle tool to remove any unwanted areas or to straighten lines after the paint has completely dried.

  7. Paint green teardrops for leaves.
     
  8. Outline watermelons and leaves with liner brush and black paint.

  9. Paint in seeds with black paint on watermelons and base.
     
  10. If desired, add a line of white paint between green rind and watermelon to give an extra highlight. Add any vines with green paint.
     
  11. Allow to dry.
     
  12. Follow manufacturer’s instructions for curing the paint.
