Turn an empty mint tin into a high-glamor purse compact for makeup essentials. This fun craft from Kandi Corp. uses heat-set rhinestones to cover the top of the tin. Add a mirror on the inside of the tin for beauty on the go.

Rhinestone Makeup Compact

Materials:

● 3/4" x 2 3/8" x 3 3/4" candy tin
● 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" decorative mirror
● 16ss 4mm heat-set rhinestones*: 95 Clear, 320 Rose
● Ultra fine pink glitter
● Silver leafing pen
● Laminating liquid
● Permanent glue
● Fine-grit sandpaper, paintbrush, paper plate, pencil, ruler, toothpicks, tweezers

* Quantities indicated allow for extra rhinestones

Instructions:

Let tin dry after every leafing pen and gluing application.

  1. Sand paint off tin; sand in one direction. Clean tin with soap and water; wipe dry. Use pencil to mark center top of tin.

  2. Use toothpicks to apply glue to tin top; use tweezers to arrange rhinestones. See picture for placement. Work from middle row and out to each side. Glue row of Rose rhinestones along each side of pattern. Glue row of Rose rhinestones around bottom edge of lid. NOTE: Avoid gluing hinges.

  3. Use leafing pen on inside of tin top and outside of tin bottom.

  4. NOTE: Avoid gluing and glittering sides, as this will prevent lid from closing. Use paintbrush to apply thin coat of glue to entire inside bottom of tin. Hold tin over plate; sprinkle glitter to coat all sides. To remove excess glitter, turn tin over and tap. Repeat with inside of tin top. Use paintbrush to apply laminate to glittered surfaces.

  5. Glue mirror to inside of tin top. Glue Rose rhinestone on each side of mirror.
